The Medill Local News Accelerator shared services hub produces bespoke market research intended to help Chicago’s local news organizations better understand their engaged audiences and potential customer bases.
This shared service is ideal for news organizations seeking to better understand and expand their audience and/or improve their content strategy and audience engagement.
Consumer market research reports produced by Medill provide insights relating to readers’
Insights are primarily collected via quantitative methods. With the support of our vendors, we can target potential survey takers based on zip codes, race, age, income, and characteristics germane to how they live their lives, how they spend their time and how they allocate their money.
We also partner with vendors for qualitative research through focus groups. This service is free of charge.
Our team will schedule an intake call to better understand your news organization’s goals. In consultation with the client, our team of experts will draft and design a survey, which can then be fielded through the client’s platforms or in collaboration with several vendors depending on the desired project outcome.
Once complete, a report of the survey’s results will present consumer market insights that outlets can use to make strategic decisions related to their business, content, and operations. A final research analysis is then shared with the client, and a final meeting is scheduled to discuss insights and actionable steps.
