Medill is defining shared services as a collaborative effort to strengthen the local news infrastructure with other journalism support organizations to pool resources into providing services like reporting, publishing, financial management, technical support, research and leadership expertise ultimately enhancing efficiency, productivity and quality of news production.
Our goal is to strengthen local reporting by providing infrastructure support that allows news organizations to focus on their journalistic mission.
In some cases, these services will be provided through Northwestern faculty, staff, students and affiliates. In other cases, Medill will contract with suppliers/vendors to provide services. The associated costs will be paid through grant money held by Medill.
